Laughing Horse Training

Ground Work:   Teaching the horse to be caught, haltered and led; round pen training, lunging, long lining; ground driving; bridle cues.

First Rides:   Acclimating the horse to the saddle and bridle; teaching bridle cues from the ground; acclimating the horse to mounting and dismounting; riding the green broke horse.

General Horsemanship:   Teaching control to all the parts of the horse, both from the ground and while mounted; creating a balanced stop (and go); teaching lateral movements from the ground and while mounted; managing speed and pace.

Basic Dressage:   Applying general horsemanship techniques to precisely ride lower level dressage patterns and tests.

Basic Jumping:   Using general horsemanship techniques to create an adjustable horse for jumping; starting the horse and rider over ground poles; free jumping the horse over obstacles; jumping exercises with grids for horse and rider; jumping simple courses for horse and rider.

Trail Riding:   Using general horsemanship skills to create a reliable trail horse; desensitization to spooky objects and situations; teaching the horse to negotiate obstacles.

Driving:   Teaching the horse to lunge, long line and ground drive; acclimating horse to harness; teaching horse to drag a training object and mock shafts; acclimating horse to carriage; hitching horse to carriage; driving with carriage put to horse.

Clicker Training:   Teaching horse desired behaviors using conditioned response and reward-based training.
